TEAM SBU MARKETING

ALAS TIME FLIES AND YOU MAKE SOME GOOD FRIENDS
Date: October 5, 2006
Day : Thursday
Time: 11:42 Hours

It has been four months (approximately) since I set foot on SPJIMR campus on June 20th 2006 - guess what - i have survived and am still alive.

A lot has happened in these past 4 months, I have struggled with Quant as Virender Sehwag struggles against the out swinger, surprisingly my performance was good only in operations management which is not my specialization and I am at the bottom of the pyramid in the specialization which I have chosen… ahem ahem (marketing), but I guess that happens…

I forgot to mention in my previous entries that we have started a rebel group “PDF” which is better known as “The Participants Democratic Front”, opposing the PEC and our popularity is on the rise.

I became a part of SBU – Marketing and the team members are great, we started of with the MMQz, and god was it tough to frame the questions. But the best part was the hype we created regarding the whole event, sending mails stating

I AM BACK PGP – 1

And what followed was

Ah! The Gauntlet has been throw
Courage Thou Hath shown
But will ye stand my "TEST"
Where none survive but the best
PGP – 1 I AM BACK!!!!

And people actually replied to these mails

Hark! Sniff the Air and Open your eyes
Look about thyself and know where brilliance lies ....
If Tthe Best is who you seek
Realise now, you are not Dealing with the meek !!!!!!

"WELCOME BACK !!!!!!!" (back.welcome@gmail.com)

Sandy Said

Foul is the hour and stench fills the heavy air
We are dealin with guys, whose names, they fear to bare

Cometh the hour and cometh forward only men of steel
We hail not the ones who hide and take to their heel

So the gauntlet we throw back and raise the bar
Lets see, this hype, how long u can carry on and how far

PGP1 fears no force, mortal or otherwise
Cause we are not the brawn, we are the wise.

And we replied

N'er knowing...if I'm friend or foe

And then the Viking was revealed….

And the MMQz were a huge success

Hey that’s not all. A lot more happened in TRIM 1, yes I did more badly in quant but tell me something new…

We saw lots off movies Lage Raho, John Tucker Must die and more, PDF was making its presence felt in every arena – Battu and Ankita going for Sun Tzu, Anubhav Shreyas and Bhargav doing well in studies and Jyoti and Urs truly and Mallu Python (Sandeep Menon) njoying life and doing well in cricket ( not that it counts anywhere).

Amlan da and sculptors did a great job in organizing the matches…

In the mean while I went home a couple of time and loved it…
( am going again in a couple of weeks)

We had a Dandiya night and there was no kurta available so I went in a T-shirt to paly dandiy along with shreyas and from there we went to Mocha for a coffee…
but the dandiya night was fun, the trim 1 exams had just ended and pgp-1 was in a modd to party so we all let our hair down ( you know i dont have many) and just went in with the flow....

here are are a few pics

And yes before the TRIM – I marks come out 402 – D and 402 – E, that is amongst Jyoti,Shreyas - The Casanova, Menon - The Mallu Python, Anubhav - The Topper, and Urs truly, whoever tops will take the other four to TAJ PALACE for dinner….

and here is a list of PDF members

Anu Mishra – President
Jyoti Prakash – Chief Advisor
Manav Sahni – Marketing and PR Spokesperson
Anubhav – Chief Planner ( jisko koi planning nahi aati)
Battu Harish - Terrorist
Anup Jha

Hey i purchased my own domain name www.sahnis.in and created a personalised email manav@sahnis.in,me and shreyas were selected for the Skill City 2006 comptn but i guess we won't be going coz the insti won't allow us to go.

And yes the work for GASP has also started and Sandy is gung - ho about it, we would be going for gita shibir from 12th till 14 and on 15 i would be heading back to

RETURN OF THE ICON

He is a legend, an icon, a sportsman par excellance, yes he is SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR,he has been criticised, he has been written off many a times but everytime he bounces back with greater venegence as if to prove something to his critics.

Sachin Tendulkar has come a long way since he took guard as a 16-year-old against the fiery pace attack of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in the Karachi Test in 1989.

Having been bowled by fellow-debutant Younis for 15 in the first innings and not given a chance to bat a second time in the drawn Test, Tendulkar feared he may never play Test cricket again.

Not only did Tendulkar continue playing, but he also emerged as one of the finest batsmen to grace the game and was regarded by the great Don Bradman as his modern reincarnation. Greg Chappell too is impressed with Sachin. The Australian believes the hype and expectations on Sachin is greater than even Bradman faced in his day.

The Indian coach said: Sachin carries a weight of collective expectation to the crease that few can comprehend. Bradman would not have had the weight of expectation that Sachin has on him every time he went out to bat."

He had a shoulder operation just a few months ago and people said Tendulkar is past his prime, he is not what he used to be, but he came back with a bang in Malaysia scoring his 75th International hundred, that was 40th in ODI's.

This is what Mcgrath said about his knock:

"He came out yesterday with 140 odd, he worked the ball around to get himself in, I mean class player, and I have to get it on the right area for him. I'm looking forward to the challenge."

He hit 5 massive Sixes and 13 fours and no signs of any dis comfort any where.

His popularity cuts across religion, caste and creed. Statistics tell only half the story about the genius. The way he plays shots like the off drive, flick, paddle sweep and cut, is fascinating. Sachin Tendulkar would have smashed many more records had not the injuries come in his way.

The original little master, Sunil Gavaskar, had said that the champion cricketer was an example of the perfect batsman. Gavaskar praised Tendulkar for the stillness of his head, his straight back-lift, the ease with which he played his shots and their wide range.

The batting maestro is expected to play a decent knock in every match, especially in the crucial ones. One hopes that he will continue to make his country proud with his valuable contributions to every match he plays.

What makes Tendulkar the 'Cricketing God' is his down-to-earth demeanour through the highs and lows of his career.

DEPARTING OF THE ICONS

One burnt rubber on the race tracks and the other broke tennis rackets in anger, but no matter what they did would always remain etched in our memories forever...

Yes i am talking about Andre Kirk Agassi and Michael Schumacher...

I still remember the rivalry between Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher and how my sunday's were spent watching these two battling it out... and rest as they say is history.

When not watching Grand Prix my attention wavered towards tennis and the famous american trio of Pete Sampras, Andra Agassi and Jim Courier ruled the hearts, Jim courier retired, pete sampras went his own way but one man who continued his tryst with destiny was Andre Agassi. As one watched the veteran war-horse grittily combat to extend his last hurrah, I was reminded of Seabiscuit, the classic true story of the legendry horse whose daring feat despite damaging injuries lifted American spirits in the time of the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Agassi has won a staggering eight Grand Slam titles, conquering several Everest's in his dramatic career, including the enviable feat of being in a select coterie of just five Grand Slam winners who have won on all playing surfaces, a feat which Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg could not match, and will remain unparalleled in the near future, unless Roger Federer decides to tame a certain irrepressible clay-court force called Rafael Nadal in Paris.

Agassi despite a wildly turbulent private life in his early days reminiscent of Rudolph Valentino letting his hair down (where his private jet was once famous for his romantic rendezvous), has settled into blissful domesticity. He is arguably the perfect role model husband, who acknowledges the immense contribution made by his better half, none other than the inimitable Steffi Graf; collector of 21 Grand Slam singles titles herself. Sachin, has been an ideal family man too, low-key and very private and both Andre and he have a son and daughter.

The crowds at New York this year were understandably sentimental about a man who had played such memorable tennis under September floodlights at Queen's over several years. It made every next encounter as epoch-like as ever, even forcing Raf Nadal to climb into the stadium to watch Andre play his last career game. It was nostalgic. Emotional. A slice of a generation. A moment of history. Not surprisingly, the locker room at Flushing Meadows had an unusual sight; past battles were forgotten, bitter line disputes consigned to history, as Andre's fellow players gave the grand hero a standing ovation. Andre deserved it.

After the Belgian GP 1998
Coulthard had slowed on the racing line, during severe rain and poor visibility conditions, resulting in Schumacher impacting heavily with his car ripping a wheel and suspension off. Once back at the pits Schumacher ran to the McLaren garage and confronted Coulthard...

Schumacher: Are you trying to f****** kill me?

He courted controversy on the track but won a million hearts, he lived life in the fast lane, he was ferrari's most successfull driver ever.

Michael Schumacher started out his racing career in the same way as all the great drivers, in karting. At four years old his father built him a kart and soon after enrolled him in the local kart club Kerpen Horrom.

In 1989 Michael signed with Willi Weber, whose team WTS he would drive for during 1989 and 1990 in the Formula 3 Championship. Weber paid the costs for both seasons (approximately 1 million DM). In the 1989 season Karl Wendlinger was champion, with Michael finishing 3rd behind Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

During 1990 and 1991 Schumacher moved into sports car racing, instead of the more usual step up to Formula 3000. Many managers believed this would block his progression to Formula 1, but Weber believed that exposure to professional press conferences and dealing with the cars of 700bhp would be beneficial.

The Belgian Grand Prix of 1991 at Spa was Michael's debut in the world's top racing series. His lucky break came as a result of Bertrand Gachot being imprisoned for spraying CS gas into a London taxi driver's face. Qualifying 7th, he unfortunately retired on the first lap from this race with clutch failure of his Jordan-Ford. Although Eddie Jordan wished to sign Michael to the team, Schumacher was advised by Weber to act cautiously, as Jordan was to use factory Yamaha power the following year.In the 1994 season with an under powered Ford Zetec V8 he took his first Driver's Championship, after the death of Ayrton Senna at Imola. It came after a season of several run-ins with the FIA and he was disqualified from the British and Belgian Grands Prix. Michael was also put under a two race ban during the Italian and Portuguese GP that year.

The 1995 season was just as successful. Schumacher now had Renault power, to match the Williams and he dominated the season. It was marred however by several collisions between himself and Hill.

AND THEY SAY REST IS HISTORY...

And we can all stand and clap, and watch a generation pass by.
And two legends as they say Good Bye.

Yes i am writing and here are some of my literary master pieces, so please read them and post your comments------

Sunehere Lamhe!!!

Zindagi ki Daud main kabhi kabhi humare saath aise haadse ho jaate hain

Jinhe hum chaah kar bhi nahi bhula paate hain

Kuch aise dost ban jate hain jinke saath hum dagmagate hain aur sambhal jaate hain

Yeh haadse aur yeh dost fir humaari yaadon ke sabse sunahere lamhe ban jate hain

Jinhe hum bhulana chahe bhi toh bhula nahi paate hain………………………………

LIFE @ CLOCK

Tic Tok Tik Tok
Life is like a clock
Throughout you fight your battles
But not always you stand like a rock
In dark times you will feel smaller
This is when you draw strengths from the shallows
Then your friends will make you stand taller
Just don’t cave into pressure
Because there is always something better

I was in hostel when i heard of the blast and was shocked my immidiate reaction was to first inquire where my dad was because he was in mumbai the same day and was coming to meet me, i was standing on the gate of my hostel and was waiting for my dad to come, he had called up and told that he would reach in 15 minutes, but it had already been 30 minutes i was worried and the networks were as usual down be it any cellular service provider even mtnl phones were down there was panic everywhere, i was recieving calls from home in Delhi and from pune but only sms wwas being sent no calls, and then i see my dad coming in the car and he had no idea about the blasts, well we had dinner together and then he had to go back and i was back in my hostel preparing for the foundation exams. but read on

Yes the day was 7/11/2006 the fatefull tuesday evening when mumbai was rocked with the 7 blasts, yes people welcome to the BLAST CAPITAL OF OUR COUNTRY, why can't these people leave us alone, humne kya bigada hai inka, hats of to MUMBAI ki JUNTA, man these people are great they know how to look in the face of adversity, whole of our nations hearts go out to the victims who suffered due to these blasts.

It required courage to travel through the same trains the next day and the people of Mumbai dissappointed none it was a good reply.

There was a two minute silence observed in the memory of all the victims who suffered and INDIA was one again, SAARE JAHAN SE ACHA HINDUSTAN HUMARA,

A news item from REDIFF

A day after a series of bomb blasts rocked the city, Mumbai is back to normal. Trains on the Central line, Western line, Harbour line were on time. People are all set to go to office and resumed work as if nothing happened.

The Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who visited the Mumbai blast sites and some hospitals, said that the Mumbai police is investigating Tuesday’s attacks but have found no clues so far. He also said that 183 persons lost their lives in these blasts and 714 were injured.
Out of 183 dead, 123 have already been identified and 72 have been handed over to their relatives for conducting last rites, he said.

“The railway ministry has decided to give Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims and a suitable job to one person in the family. All the treatment expenses would be met by the railway ministry even in cases of private hospitals. Most of the injured will also be compensated. The state government has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the family of the victim,” he said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address the nation at 8 pm in the wake of serial blasts set off by terrorists in Mumbai on Tuesday. He is also likely to visit Mumbai later this week, the sources said.
